About this simulation & its data

Rotations fill 240 regulation minutes in projected-role order, using up to 12 players. Starter projections are preserved when the rotation is crowded; the last bench player takes the remaining minutes. Short rotations redistribute available minutes, capped at 48 per player. Roster changes affect minutes, possession usage and team strength. An unassigned player does not play. Auto-pickup requires a reviewed financial snapshot matching the scenario rosters. It checks supported cap-room and minimum-exception waiver claims, roster openings, hard caps and reacquisition restrictions before assessing playing time and team improvement. Interested eligible teams compete in waiver-priority order over a simulated 48-hour preseason window. Unknown contract terms, exceptions or competing eligibility block the action without changing rosters. Other exception routes, two-way claims and new contracts after clearing waivers require further review. Player averages divide by games actually played, and shooting percentages use total makes and attempts.

Provisional games add one home and one away game for each team in December. They are placeholders for the two unassigned regular-season games, not an NBA Cup bracket. Cup championships and playoffs are not included. Overtime uses the existing simplified scoring model. One simulated season is one possible outcome, not a measured probability or a validated prediction of trade impact.
